By topping the open qualifier, the two Brazilian squads have secured spots in the six-team Regional Major Ranking (RMR) event for South America.
Sharks and Keyd have earned their spots in Tribo to Major 2020, the $15,000 Regional Major Ranking event which will run from September 18 - October 11, after 2-0 semi-final wins over Prodigy and Dexterity, respectively.
Both qualified teams are still without RMR points to their name as they did not participate in ESL One: Road to Rio, and the second RMR event for South America was not held. Sharks and Keyd will be battling against four regional teams that have already scored points, with BOOM sitting on top of the rankings after winning ESL One: Road to Rio.
The team list for the tournament is as follows:
Tribo to Major was supposed to be the final RMR event for the region, but with the news of the ESL One Rio Major being cancelled and the RMR point system set to continue "to keep track of the best teams in each region", the race for the Major spot in South America is again wide open, as BOOM's 1600 points don't provide them too much safety at the top.
The current South America RMR standings are as follows:
1.
BOOM - 1600 RMR points
2.Isurus - 1200 RMR points
3.Imperial - 840 RMR points
4.RED Canids - 780 RMR points
Still, it is the team featuring João "felps" Vasconcellos and Ricardo "boltz" Prass that is expected to do well in Tribo to Major, as BOOM are currently on a five-tournament winning streak, boasting a 34W-7L map record over the last six months.
Prize distribution for Tribo to Major:
1. $7,000 + 2500 RMR Points
2. $4,000 + 2344 RMR Points
3. $3,000 + 2188 RMR Points
4. $1,000 + 2031 RMR Points
